Legends and Stories Ah, the things that make people great. Stories about them! No, really, there are actually a good amount of stories in the game, and even if you don't find one appropriate to your liking, you could probably BS your own and get away with it. But I'm supposed to inform you of the more popular legends and stories. So, here goes. Monsters of the World Monsters, they're all over the place! In the air, in the sea, in the ground, but where do they come from? Many of them break logical explanations, and still more possess innate magical and supernatural abilities. There's got to be a reason behind it, and why they're not affected by miasma. The Black Knight - A restless fighter Everyone knows about the black knight! Powerful and mighty, it's said there is no greater fighter in the world. He does exist - reports of him show up every once in a while, but just who is he, and what the heck is he doing? Treasure in the Lynari It is said that in the Lynari desert, there lies a treasure greater than any other. Indeed, many ancient texts point to it as a place with something great buried in the sands, but clues are vague at best, and misleading at worst. Origin of the Selkie The Selkie have always been defined apart from the other races by their independence. Additionally, they are the only ones that any serious amount of animosity is held towards as a whole. Additionally, the eldest known texts and inscriptions are all in Selkic. Just how DID the Selkie come to be, and how much older are they than the other races? Tida Village - What happened? The village of Tida was one upon which the sun shined brighter than any other. Yet, one year, their caravan never returned... or so it's said. Now Tida's a shell of its former self, swarmed with undead and overgrown with grass. Rebena Te Ra - The Golden Age It's said that one time there was a great city on the Rebena Plains where all the tribes lived in peace and harmony during a golden age, but this age ended much earlier than the impact of Miasma. The city still exists today, and yet it is unknown what caused its collapse, or what treasures lie hidden inside the deserted city temples and streets. Akilan En Mal - The city beneath the waves Stories tell of another site as well. Beneath the waves of the oceans of the world lies a great city, one immune to the ravages of time and miasma alike. The people are said to live in complete seclusion from the outside world, supposedly by choice. Despite this, the stories persist that many there also welcome visitors with open arms. The caravan of 1339 Sanriem's caravans have always produced some of the hardiest and strongest caravaners, which is why the caravan that departed in 1339 raises so many questions. Initially leaving with a full complement of eight, they returned as only two: Gwesus and Squenix, with a full chalice of Myrr and the full amount of equipment, but in a battered and bewildered state. The fifth element A fifth element is, from ancient Selkic texts, said to rule over the other four basic elements (Earth, Fire, Wind, and Water). What this fifth element is, and if it even exists, still remains a mystery. Even so, much research is being held on the topic in Shella. Mag Mell - The sleeping city A town of only legend, Mag Mell is said to be a sleeping city in the sea of the abyss. Mostly thought of as a fairy tale, I'm mentioning it here so it MUST show up, right? The Council Just look at the list. Each one's got their own story behind them, and even more if you listen to anyone that has the 'inside scoop'. Ceril's Legacy A famed Clavat spellcaster, Ceril was rumored to use magic through force of will, rather than the infusion of magecite. Eleven centuries ago, he journeyed into the Miasma and was never heard from again. Legend says he is still alive to this day, watching over the caravans that pass through the woods. Other sources, however, claim he was a demon, and still more state that he was just a normal person with some talent for sleight of hand. De Nam - Researcher extraordinaire A Selkie researcher, De Nam is a famed world traveler and researcher, trying to find a way to travel through miasma without a crystal. So far he's been unsuccessful, but given time he may just turn up with a solution. His last whereabouts were in Shella, from which he departed with a portable crystal of his own. Plunta Island - Dead Men Tell No Tales Plunta island was a favorite Pirate hangout, and still is if you go looking in the right places. Even so, much of the island is overgrown with jungle, and the larger cove, named after the island, still undoubtedly has treasure held beneath the sands, as well as the curses on such treasures... Annie, Alex, and Ai - The Triplets Three ex-caravaneer Clavat sisters, identical triplets. All are big fans of contests. They're usually present at nearly any competition. They love contests so much they've got an open challenge on them - defeat all three of them, and you can marry one. They reside in Sanriem, and work as trainers for those willing to learn what they can teach. Their caravan is the same that Ran Dom was on.
